THE SAVANNAH SIPPING SOCIETY DEBUTS LIVE ONSTAGE AT THEATRE BY THE TRAX IN ST. MARYS
ST. MARYS, GA—St. Marys Little Theatre announces its debut of “The Savannah Sipping Society” opening May 5 and playing for two weekends at Theatre by the Trax in St. Marys.
Director Gloria Hurley said this Jones, Hope, Wooten show is a laugh-a-minute comedy about four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines.
“These aging southern belles are drawn together by Fate—and an impromptu happy hour—and decide it’s high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they’ve lost through the years,” said Hurley.
With such colorful characters and a script that delivers soul stirring laughter, Hurley invites anyone needing an escape from everyday life to take a walk on the wild side and discover how these women make a renewed determination to live in the moment.
“It’s a lesson we all need,” Hurley said. “When you combine a perfectionist- workaholic, a widow reeling from recent loss, a good ol’ Texas gal who just lost her tom-cattin’ husband to a 23-year-old, and a spunky ball-of-fire friend who’s determined to be their life coach, you can expect fireworks, tears, and celebration, and you won’t be disappointed.”
Over the course of six months, filled with laughter, hilarious misadventures, and the occasional liquid refreshment, these middle-aged women successfully bond and find the confidence to jumpstart their new lives in this joyful, and surprisingly touching show.
Performances are May 5,6,12 and 13 at 7 pm and May 7 and 14 at 2 pm at Theatre by the Trax in St. Marys. Tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased at StMarysLittleTheatre.com or in downtown St. Marys at Once Upon a Bookseller. For more information, call 912-322-2479.
